Weekend #1 with a Puppy

More things I learned this weekend:

  1. Smart, athletic puppies can learn to climb a 3 ft baby gate in 5 minutes. Then, when the gate is modified to be puppy-proof (a 3 inch wooden lip added to the top), they can figure out how to summit the new and improved gate in about 20 minutes. Only the addition of grad school stats and law books make the gate effective (for now).
  2. If you have a puppy with worms (very common) and you live on the 3rd floor of a walk-up, you will get a great workout for at least two days before the meds kick in.
  3. Rakes (especially small, red ones) are great playmates.
  4. Puppies, once cured of worms, have about 97 times more energy than they have when sick.
  5. The one, split-second moment you look away, your puppy will pee on the carpet.
  6. Sleeping puppies are indescribably precious.
