My apologies, dear non-existent readers...I just realized that it is very possible that many of you may not know the meaning and gravity of the phrase "and then I found five dollars." This is an very useful phrase the I learned during my freshman year of college. For one reason or another, I tend to befriend wonderful people who are inclined to tell long, animated stories that they find HYSTERICAL..but that their audience may or may not find humor in. It is also of note that I am definitely one of these people. Therefore, we story-tellers were informed early on in our college careers that when you reach the hilarious punch line of your story, and you only hear the chirping of crickets (as opposed to the guffaws from your appreciative audience), you must quickly add "and then I found five dollars!" The fictional finding of five dollars gives purpose and finality to any story and distracts your unamused audience from the chirping crickets, causing them to think/say "Oooooh, cool. I could use five dollars too. What a great ending to a story." With the addition of this little white lie, you have saved yourself from being "the person who tells long, unfunny stories." It's like magic!
If my explanation isn't good enough, check out the urbandictionary.com definition.
Now, see if you can figure out why I named my blog after this wonderful sentence...
